Urgent Announcement Regarding Brisbane Lockdown for Wilston Kids Care

Dear Families, A number of you have no doubt heard the important announcement made by the Premier today about the 3-day lockdown. As the lockdown commences from 5pm today, all families will need to pick their child up by 4.30pm (at the latest) today, so we have time to pack up the Service and get our staff home to comply with the lockdown requirements. From 5pm today, residents in the local government areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Logan, and Redlands can only leave home for one of these four reasons:

· To buy essentials such as groceries or medications

· To work or study if can't do either from home

· Exercise in your local area

· Healthcare or to provide help, care, or support Residents of these areas must also wear masks indoors except at home, including in ride shares, on public transport and in workplaces. Will we be open? Wilston Kids Care will be open for Before and After School Care for essential workers and vulnerable children only. Schools in the locked down areas will remain open for children of essential workers, vulnerable children, or children at risk only. The restrictions will be reviewed on Wednesday evening. As the Premier pointed out - "These measures are tough, but they are important to keep our community safe". Please note Parents working from home are not eligible for care on Tuesday 30 March, Wednesday March 31 and Thursday 1 April and are not regarded as an essential worker. These are not restrictions; this is a mandated lockdown for 3 days to keep Queenslanders safe and to limit people moving around the city. Residents of these areas must also wear masks everywhere except at home. This will include our staff and parents entering the premises during this 3-day lockdown. Children will be exempt from this as the advice from the health authorities is that children under 12 years of age do not need to wear masks. As people are still allowed to go work (essential workers only), we will be open and operational for families who essentially need to work. We will continue with Before School and After School Care for Tuesday 30 March 2021 Wednesday 31 March, Thursday 1 April 2021. From Friday 2 April we will be closed for the Easter period and re-open Tuesday 6 April for our scheduled Easter School Holiday Vacation Care Program. If my child does not attend, will I be charged? If your child is unwell, please do not bring them to the Service during this lockdown period if you are an essential worker and need to go to the workplace. We will unfortunately not be able to accept any sick child. Families who are not able to attend due to the lockdown measures on Tuesday 30 March, Wednesday 31 March and Thursday 1 April 2021 due to NOT being an essential worker, will not have to pay for any sessions that you have booked during this time, as we have deleted your bookings for the next 3 days. How to Book in if I am an essential worker for Tuesday 30 March, Wednesday 31 March and Thursday 1 April 2021 – Before and After School Care. To book in, you will need to book casually for the session you require on Tuesday 30 March, Wednesday 31 March and Thursday 1 April 2021 as we have deleted all bookings for these sessions. That way we will know exactly which children we will be caring for so we can quickly sort out our staffing arrangements. We will from the back end change it to the permanent day rate for those who attend each session. We have prepared a digital register for essential worker families who need Before and After School Care on Tuesday 30 March, Wednesday 31 March and Thursday 1 April. Once you have booked in casually, we will need you to fill out the form linked below today as an urgent priority. This register will ask for your place of employment details and your best contact information. Our admin team will be available if you need assistance with this process. https://www.wilstonpandc.org.au/parent-details-register-covid-19 Moving forward, these decisions are based on the Premier’s advice and are from 5pm today. At this stage, it is business as usual from Tuesday 6 April when we're open for Vacation Care unless otherwise advised by the relevant health authorities and the Premier. If there are further changes, as always, we will act swiftly and advise you as a matter of priority. Any queries or questions please do not hesitate to contact us in the office or feel free to call my work mobile if you need further advice.

Kind Regards
